Why is height a risk in sport?

It depends on the sport. If its Football (European) then depending on position it is an advantage and disadvantage. Goalkeepers have more of an advantage if they are taller because they can reach crosses easier and dive futhur than shorter keepers. If your an attacker, height cna be good or bad. If your tall you can reach high crosses for headers, but if you have bad balance, height won't be of much use to you if you are always falling over. It can be a risk because the taller you are, the longer your legs and the larger an area for a slide tackle to hit and if studs go into your leg and split your veins, you colud bleed to death.

For American Football, being tall allows for easier catches from a height and gives you the advantage over short defendin players. But if you are a kicker then it won't make a difference. Again, its not a risk for this sport.

If you play Ice Hockey then height doesn't matter in theory. Ice Hockey is a very physical sport so strength is a much more useful trait that height. However taller players also seem to be the stronger players. This is why it isn't a risk.

In Basketball, height does help because of the hieght of the baskets. So it isn't a risk here.

In general, height isn't a risk in sport.
