An understanding of chemistry is not a prerequisite to correct coding. Typically, medical providers will dictate the drug name, and dosage, into the patient's record along with the other procedures performed at the time of the visit.

Chemistry is not on the list of required coursework for Coders, is not present on any coding exams.
