Its called a fontanel
It depends on how hard or soft you have hitted your head
As soft as a babys bottom.
"Fontanelle" (sometimes spelled "fontanel".) There are actually four of them, but the anterior fontanelle (directly on top) is usually the most noticeable.
Try icing it for the next 2-3 weeks and also try not to bump it if it is triggering migraines when bumped
Any head injury should be checked out by a medic........ likely to be absolutely fine but could be a haematoma.
Babys Have These Things On Their Heads Right When They're Born Called "Soft Spots" So Yea If You Touch It... DONT CAUSE IT WILL KILL THE BABY :(
The soft spots on a baby's head are called fontanelles. There are two of them, the larger one close to the front of the head, and a smaller one that closes soon after birth further back on the head.
It depends on what the bump is like. It's always best to have a doctor take a look. It's probably fine, but better safe than sorry you know. Its normal for there to be a bump there up until the child is almost a year old. The bump is the soft spot where the bones of the skull are not fused together yet so the baby's head can flex to oval during delivery. It will eventually fuse together and make one one solid bone structure. Until the child gets older, the soft spot will be an area of safety concern.
The anterior fontanelle was soft at birth as this allows the baby's head to exit the birth canal safely. As the baby gets older, the fontanelle closes and hardens to a normal skull.
The soft spots are called fontanelles. They occur at the fibrous sutures (joints) between the plates of the skull, and usually fuse with bone (ossify) within the first two years after birth. The spacing between the skull plates is necessary for proper expansion as the brain grows.
It will not allow room for the brain to grow as it should.
