International Housekeeping Week is celebrated to recognize the efforts of the women and men that work year round to create comfort and cleanliness for lodging guests. Often times, working in housekeeping is a thankless job, but it has a huge impact on the health and well-being of the hospitality industry.
The work takes a physical and mental toll, and the effort that goes into making individual guests comfortable in a "foreign" environment is not easy. By having a dedicated week, it allows those of us that work in other areas to remember and celebrate the sacrifice and focus it takes to clean up after adults, children, and pets...especially when they are not your own!
In 2016, national housekeeping week is celebrated between September 11 through September 17.
