∙ 12y agoThis is a rule which schools, colleges and university use. If you are drinking near a computer and you spill it, it will cause hardware damage.
For eating, you can touching the food and touching the keyboard and mouse also. You hands may be sticky or greasy and your transferring it onto the computers hardware. This is fine until someone else comes along to the computer and starts typing and clicking away.
Like I said, this is only for schools, colleges and universities only.
