Whenever anybody has a problem/difficulty, there are two things they can do. They can ignore it and hope it goes away or they can confront their problem.

If the problem is ignored, nothing is learnt and no skills are gained. For example, stopping children crossing the road (due to the danger of getting hit by traffic) could result in the child not developing the skills required to cross roads in the future. Therefore, it is better to confront the problem so that you can overcome it.

Confronting a problem could make it go away (the problem could be solved) or it could get worse. However, not confronting the problem will never solve it. Problems and difficulties must be tackled if they are to end.

There are also mental benefits of solving problems. Confidence can be gained which can help lead to happiness. Some types of people gain more satisfaction from solving problems than others. Logical thinkers (such as mathematicians) usually enjoy obtaining solutions the most.

Confronting a problem allows you to address it directly and seek solutions, rather than letting it fester and potentially grow worse. It promotes open communication, fosters personal growth, and can lead to a resolution that benefits all parties involved.
