For starters, Walt Disney was the creater of the Disney company. And as for the suffix, he must have thought that it was better sounding as Disneyland instead of Disneycontinent, Disneyisland, or Disneyuniverse. It's so much simpler when it's called Disneyland, or Disneyworld.

actually Walt Disney is the man who created Disney land in California. A few years later Disney got the bright idea to buy land in Florida and create a new better park. Disney died before he could see his creation. Disney's brother Roy added World to the end of Walt's original name in honor of Walt Disney.
