This spot on the map derives it name from the "manly art of self-defense" as exemplified by a unique style of gloveless boxing during the 1800's, known as "Fist and Skullbone". The city of Skullbone is part of the official "Kingdom of Skullbonia". Located in Gibson County. A lovely spot to visit and the country store is on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

People who live in Tennessee or who come from Tennessee are called Tennesseans. Tennesseans have also been known as "Volunteers", "Big Benders", or even "Butternuts." The first two names are obvious references to two of the state's popular nicknames. The third, "Butternuts," probably originated during the War between the States and is reference to the tan colored uniforms of Tennessee soldiers.
