Because the kop is the common English name for a stand within a stadium which is well beloved by many fans, is usually packed to the rafters, and ignites chanting inside the ground. Examples of these are at Liverpool's Anfield, and Leeds United's Elland Road. The latter home to arguably the best team on the face of the Earth.
