In one verse:

Genesis 1:26

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Because we are made in God's image and we are in charge of the Earth and everything on it.

For a number of reasons human life is especially sacred to Christians, especially the defenseless unborn. Firstly, God made mankind (both male and female) in His image. Secondly, although people went astray from Him, He considered them worth dying for - a terrible and humiliating death, to bring them back to Himself. Thirdly, God loves all people individually. Fourthly, He has made it possible for each individual to be absolutely unique, even though sharing a common humanity, and so each is special and sacred that way. Fifthly, human life is something over which God is sovereign, which is why many Christians believe no-one has the right to take it away.

Humans are important to us all, because that is what we are. But Christians also believe that humans were made in the image of God.

Another reason is that since God and Christ Jesus think humans are important enough to 'save' - - we humans too should feel the same way as our heavenly Father and his Son.

But there are many other things that are also important. Really, everything God 'created' and 'stated' is important, simply because God makes it such. God decides what is important and what is not so important. Humans must align their feelings and thinking with God's; in order to inherit the promises God has made.

it is not possible for man to govern his own destiny and destiny of others, even though he feels as master of life. Life is sacred because it includes man and does not depend on man.

Well, I didn't know anyone else considered it sacred. But that's a nice thought. I've always been very fond of it too.
