Im assuming you mean cigarette smokers. It is hard for them to stop smoking because the cigarettes have nicotine in them which is an extremely addictive stimulant. After a person creates a habit of smoking their body adjusts to it and the minute they stop the body thinks there'd something wrong so it starts driving itself crazy and making the person feel the need for cigarettes, these are called withdrawl symptoms and are usually the reason people who try to quit end up going back to smoking. Most people who try to quit all at once may get sick and gain weight because the cigarettes also curve your appetite. But the point is that cigarettes are extremely addictive.
