Cardiac muscle is also an "involuntary muscle" but is more akin in structure to skeletal muscle, and is found only in the heart.
Cardiac and skeletal muscles are "striated" in that they contain sarcomeres and are packed into highly-regular arrangements of bundles; smooth muscle has neither. While skeletal muscles are arranged in regular, parallel bundles, cardiac muscle connects at branching, irregular angles (called intercalated discs). Striated muscle contracts and relaxes in short, intense bursts, whereas smooth muscle sustains longer or even near-permanent contractions.

Though this postural control is generally maintained as a subconscious reflex, the muscles responsible react to conscious control like non-postural muscles. Smooth muscle or "involuntary muscle" is found within the walls of organs and structures such as the esophagus, stomach, intestines, bronchi, uterus, urethra, bladder, blood vessels, and even the skin (in which it controls erection of body hair). Unlike skeletal muscle, smooth muscle is not under conscious control.

If your contractions are three min. apart then you probably already are in labor especially if you are already dilated and 80% effaced. If the contractions aren't regular then you aren't in labor but if it turns out that your not then you will most likely be going into labor really soon.

nipple stimualtion is pretty effective but if not done correctly it can bring really strong contractions. I was told to use a breat pump for 5 minutes then to do a few sets of warm compressions and when you start having steady contractions lasting about 60-90 sec and that are repeated every 3-5 minutes start walking around DONT SIT DOWN because sitting down or laying down can stop the contractions. After about an hour of this you should go to the hospital :)
