Why is it necessary for your home or office computer to have a static IP address if it is to be set up for remote desktop?

Remote desktop needs the IP Address to locate the computer
Because having a static IP address means that this IP address is permanent and will never change unless the administrator changes it. On the other hand, having a Dynamic IP address that changes everyday or when the adminsitrator decides to change the settings, makes it very difficult to access a computer at home or remotely.
