device drivers
Firmware, Operating System, and Utilities.
There are only two types: software and firmware. A software device driver is a program written for a particular operating system to support a particular piece of hardware. A firmware device driver is also software, but it is etched onto a memory chip (ROM) or a programmable chip (PROM or EPROM). The BIOS and CMOS are examples of firmware drivers, both used to initially boot the system and load the operating system.
This question is very vague in nature. Firmware is software that a device runs and is typically the lowest level of code. For example a remote for a TV runs what can loosely be described as firmware. A wireless router runs a more sophisticated firmware. Software drivers are typically instructions to an operating system (Mac OS, Windows, Linux) on how to operate a connected device. This device could be a printer, USB device, mouse, keyboard, web cam etc. Usually in order for a firmware to be compatible with software drivers they are designed to work together by the manufacturers or third party developers. Unless one possess thorough knowledge of both devices, one would be hard pressed to configure their correct interaction. Contact the manual or manufacturers for more specific technical support.

What is often called a printer is simply an output device. The computer communicates with the firmware called printer drivers in the computer. The driver makes the connection with the printing output device.
If the device does not work then you will have to update the firmware on the device
Maybe the best way is to find your device first. You go to Control panel>Device manager>search for your device>uninstall. After that you can go to www.getdriversnow.com and install all the necessary drivers. If you cannot find your drivers there, just google the name of the manufacturer and device and you will find it. Cheers!
No. Firmware is a special piece of software on a device that controls it. The modem is considered only a hardware device.
Firmware refers to the system software of a hardware device. Custom firmware takes the place of normal firmware, often adding functionality aspects to the system.
