Why is it so cold in the Arctic?

Create a picture in your mind. Earth has a tilted axis, so there are some parts that the sun's rays doesn't reach, and some parts that the rays are more intense than others. The Equator is a place where the rays are more intense, warming it up and making it hotter than the rest of the earth. The poles, or the Arctic and Antarctica, aren't reached by the rays as much, so they're quite cold.

Because it doesn't get much direct sunlight.
