We presently have about seven billion human beings living on planet Earth. I personally can remember when it was three billion. In my own lifetime I have seen the Earth's population more than double. However, the planet Earth itself has not gotten any larger, nor does it have a larger supply of fresh water. The resources that just a few decades ago were used by three billion people, are now used by seven billion people. Naturally, there are some shortages developing. This trend is likely to continue.
