Language is not unique to human beings. Dolphins speak to each other, various apes commumicate, their language can include body movements, not necessarily sounds. Crows have calls for food, danger, and many other things. Nightingales from different districts have different songs.

Hens and roosters have language. roosters even lie about food, giving the food call to entice the hens out so that they can have their way with them. Just because we don't understand their languages doesn't mean that the languages don't exist.

Apes have been taught sign language using symbols, they were able to teach other apes, and one even invented a new word!

Australian Butcher birds and Indian Mynahs communicate using many different sounds. the Mynahs always ask for air clearance when taking off, it sounds a bit like "diddle diddle dit"

Language is unique to humans because of our ability to generate limitless complex sentences and convey abstract ideas. Unlike animals, we have a more developed vocal tract and brain regions dedicated to language processing, allowing for sophisticated communication. This capacity for linguistic creativity and variety sets us apart from other species.

Is language specific only to human beings?

Language is not specific only to human beings. However, human language is unique in its complexity and the range of meanings that can be expressed.

In linguistics, language is typically defined as a system of communication using symbols (such as sounds, words, or gestures) to convey meaning within a community of speakers. It involves a set of rules and structures that govern how these symbols are combined to create meaningful messages. Language is studied at various levels, including phonetics, syntax, and semantics.

This innate ability helps infants learn to communicate and acquire language skills rapidly compared to other species. Language development is a fundamental aspect of human cognition and social interaction.

How language is human?

Human language is unique in its ability to convey abstract concepts, create meaning through grammar and syntax, and evolve over time through cultural interaction. It is a defining characteristic of human cognition and social interaction.
