Because I am an ignorant American who knows no law other then American law and some Canadian law, I will act as if you are in America. Yes, you are allowed to assault if you are attacked. In some cases, you are allowed to kill the person.
This question involves some religious/cultural practices that may confuse you more than answer the question. Cherokee's were controlled by a single law, this law only allowed you to kill people under certain circumstances. War was part of this single law. When this law was broken the Cherokee were allowed to kill but then had to cleanse themselves from it, by a very specific ritual and then stand trial by the tribe for the action. Only then were they allowed to return to society.
The New Zealand National Bird, the Kiwi, is extremely endangered and by law cannot be hunted.
Your question is not well phrased. The law allows someone to kill to defend themselves, they nevertheless still have to prove such a circumstance. Should a person be allowed to kill in self-defense? That is a personal choice.
Doctors are NOT allowed to kill people.
.................... ermm.. No, Muslims are not allowed to kill (or in other words, taking a life)
Knights were not simply allowed to kill peasants. I know of no secular laws that allowed this, and Church law certainly would not, unless the peasants were guilty of some crime. A country that gave knights free reign to do such a thing would have been at odds with the Church very quickly. It was allowed in ancient Rome, but even in ancient Rome, the laws had changed.
It may be within the law where you live. It may be necessary for some reason. It probably is not OK to do it just because you are allowed to.
