Animals in captivity tend to live longer because they are better cared for versus animals in the wild who have to fend for themselves. Captive animals are fed on a regular basis, have no predators and are generally more healthy.

That is the reason why majority of the zoos are intended to preserve a species and act as a sanctuary for the endangered animals. All though some zoos bring sick or injured animals into their sanctuaries sounds good, it is sometimes not. In some zoos the animals are released when they are better but the forget some things. For example a turtle who got stuck in beer can rings was taken to a zoo and had to be in a wagon as it lost circulation in it's legs and is still living today however if it was not in captivity it most likely would have died of suffocation not long after.

What is the difference between animals that live in the wild to animals that live in captivity?

It really depends on what animal you are reffering to. Animals in captivity can live twice as long as animals in the wild. Some animals can live up to the same age in any. There are more dangers to animals in the wild, such as predetors, poachers and lack of food/water. Animals bred in captivity have no real dangers so they would be considered to live longer.

Usually, animals raised in captivity are released into the wild when they are full grown. And it also depends on the habitat, but I think the wild is better for them.
