Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) was a leading figure in the Italian Renaissance which led the world out of the Dark Ages. He was a superb painter and sculptor as well as poet and architect. He sculpted the status of David, which is acknowledged as one of the finest sculptures ever made. He painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in St Peter's Basilica in Rome which took him 4 years and is a masterpiece of art. He designed the dome of St Peters Basilica in Rome which was of a revolutionary design. He ranks alongside Leonardo da vinci as the leading Rennaissance Man.
michelango hahaha
Most certainly. Having done a little painting, I know how hard it is. I could paint something that would resemble a Picasso much easier than a Michelango and Michelango did not even consider himself a painter, he said he was a sculptor.
Michelangelo painted the chapel sistine.
Michelangelo's painting does not hang from the ceiling. The painting is actually painted ON the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.
David was a perfection of the human body. This was a statement of humanism, which strongly opposed the catholic church. It showed that humans are not shameful and sinful like catholic church viewed it.
Not to my knowledge. Some Renaissance celebrities who did suffer from adventitious ( comes on, as opposed to congenital) blindness were Galileo ( the astronomer) and arguably Leonardo Da Vinci though the last is not confirmed. Pre- Con Ed Power and Light, this was an occupational hazard of musicians. Bach and Handel ultimately went blind.
