Well, either they've just wee'd on you...or they have wet tail, a fatal disease. You can tell in advance cos under their tail gets wet. It's most common in female hamsters as it occurs in the uterus (womb) but can happen to males in the the bladder. I know this because my female hamster died of wet tail. Hope this helps
hamster wet tail is most commonly found in syrian hamsters or 'teddy bear hamsters'. this illness can be caused by stress or through being excessively scared. symptoms are unusual eating habits, a wet rear end etc, given the name wet tail.
good luck
A hamster with a wet tail, could have wet tail, which is a condition caused by stress. If your hamster is acting normal (eating, drinking etc) that's one worry gone. Does your hamster have a clean cage? If not then it is probably just wee from soiled bedding. If yes, chances are it could be wey tail. Wet tail in hamsters is serious and most hamsters will die untreated. Take your hamster to the vet ASAP, it could save its life.
It may not seem very visible when they first develop it, but in a few weeks time, these symptoms will be very noticeable;
Some of these symptoms are relative to all hamsters, my hamster for example, is all jumpy but does not have wet tail.
How to cure it
At your local pet store, ask for vitamin drops, and wet-tail drops. Drop 3 drops of this liquid into their drink when necessary. If your hamster's dehydrated, trick him into drinking by feeding him cucumbers. Having wet-tail decreases the strength in hamsters so everyday, for 1 week only, feed the hamster one kibble of dog food to regain it's immune system strength. Keep feeding him treats such as, Oats, carrots, apples, peanut butter and bananas for omega-3.
Thanks, I hope I help [:

There Are Probibally More Ways To Tell if You'r Hamster Has Wet Tail , Butt these are the one's i know. :)
it could be one of a few possibilities the most common are chewing on its water bottle and overgrown teeth. If your not having to refill the water bottle significantly more than normal or your hamster doesn't have long teeth then you should get him/her checked out by a vet soon. If the problem is overgrown teeth you will need the vet to clip its teeth. Either way you should make the trip to the vet just don't fret.
It might just be greasy. If you do not wash your hands before handling it, then this Is the problem. If it's not then you should go to your local vet and see if he/she has some type of disease
diahorrea causes it, you can buy madicine for this at most pet stores
A wet bum, you will be alble to see the fur is dark, and wet poo. Maybe even a strong smell of poo.

Absolutely! Fresh vegetables are great for hamsters. Hamsters love lettuce and would eat it all day if they could. Just make sure you rinse the lettuce well before you feed it to your hamster.

All hamsters can get wet tail. Try not to get the hamster wet and don't use cat litter in its toilet. My sister did this and the next day the hamster had wet tail.
