A legend is a true story, usually about a person's deeds or exploits, which has been exaggerrated over time, with more drama and heroism added. A myth is something which is untrue, whether it be a story or a purported fact. So, I suppose a legend can be part truth and part myth. A myth can also be an idea, nationalism for example, used as a tool for socio- political control.

A legend creator is often referred to as a mythologist or a storyteller. They are individuals who craft stories, myths, or folklore that become part of a culture's traditions and beliefs.
