Normally all new pets are scared when they're brought into a new home. They have

to become used to their new environment and their new family. Spending quality

time with the guinea pig will help it become more comfortable, and its fears should

begin to decrease once its accustomed to its new home.

In the wild, guinea pigs were prey. They didn't go near big things that could be potential predators, and the less tame ones will actually put up a fight when you come to pick them up. It all comes down to instincts, like with hamsters, rabbits and birds.

Guinea pigs are prey animals, and that means that he thinks that when you are petting him you are gonna eat him. You just have to let him know that you are not gonna hurt him.

Well of corse they are. Can you imagine being in a new home with a lot of new people that you have never seen before. This is what it feels like to be a guinea pig. If you give him/her some time they should become used to you and not be so afraid.

When you buy a new guinea pig she will be quiet for a couple of days because it is scared. This may last even a couple of weeks. When you hold it, it feels safe in your arms, so it makes different noises. this means that it is happy. Hope this helps!

Hello my guinea pigs sister has just died so im getting a new one the same age 1yr and 10mths because she is so upset on her own how is she going to react to a new guinea pig?

Are you talking about A GUINEA PIGS SISTER or your SISTERS GUINEA PIG??? I'll just answer both then... First a guinea pig would take a while to get used to the new guinea pig, but I'll tell you they wouldn't HATE each other. Second, it depends on your sisters attitude, but mine would be pretty happy for a new guinea pig, but still A LITTLE heartbroken at the same time. Hope this helped!

Is it ok to put a pregnant guinea pig with a non pregnant female guinea pig?

When I got my guinea pig, we didn't know she was pregnant, so about a month later, my sister got one that wasn't pregnant. It was a little less that a month after that that my guinea pig had 2 babies. During that time, though, Molly, the pregnant guinea pig, was acting very territorial, and Milly, the non pregnant guinea pig, was staying by herself and not having anything to do with Molly. So make sure that if you put a pregnant guinea pig with a non pregnant guinea pig, that the non pregnant guinea pig is a girl, or else there WILL be trouble.
