Oxygen is nonpolar because is perfectly balanced, there is no "odd" shape to the molecule (O2) causing all of it's charge to balance out.

Oxygen is a gas, so non-metal. It is also non mental because before I fixed it that is what you accidentally had instead of non metal [At least I hope it was an accident ;) ].
