Say, sun has 100%, the plant uses up that biomass to convert that into 10%, and we receive 1% of the entire biomass available (energy- a.k.a. sugar, we eat veggies first before meat). If the plant does not follow up proper photosynthesis, we will either be overflow with energy or lacking energy, we just want right amount of energy and the plant helps us maintain that balance.
