Tolerance is a sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own. This is essential in life so we can live in this society with kindness towards people's backgrounds, cultures, and religions. We should not be prejudice and make a generalization towards someone just because of their background. There should never be any discrimination towards anyone because we need tolerance. It lets them have value and gives them the freedom they deserve because they have rights like us. It wouldn't be fair if we are prejudice twoards someone because this society is a diverse society indeed. It has a variety of different people with their own backgrounds and traditions.

Have tolerance! Don't be prejudice! Be a nice person! Everyone has different beliefs, ethnicity, traditions, race, heritage, and culture! Do not put them down if you don't even know who they are! Thank You =]

Well, for one you'd be persecuted for religious beliefs if they were agains the King, Queen, Emperor, or President's idea of relegion.

Second, U.S. history is based off of escaping resigious intollerance and religious persecution. The Puritans, a group of strong religious people, (aka "pilgrams") came here around 1604, discovering Jamestown. They come to America to create tolerance for any religion. So that everyone could live umong each other as individuals instead as one race of man.

An American farmer in the early 1800 once quoted that America was one "Mixing Pot", meaning people all over from other nations immigrated there and inter married and made new races and new religions.

Understanding tolerance allows us to identify with the different party. Many of us believe we do not need to identify with the different party. Tolerance is a buzz word for abandoning our freedom of thought and freedom to associate.

By proper definition, we can tolerate a different person without having to agree with their positions/actions. We can tolerate many who we disagree with by letting them be. But, tolerance does not mean we have to let them force their ideas on us.

What someone does in the privacy of their own bedroom is their business as long as they are not abusing another person.

Someone's choice to own a gun or not own a gun is their right.

Allowing many of us to define our committed relationship to our spouses as marriage without having to change that definition is our right.

Forcing us to share our spousal relationship term 'marriage' with people who want to change the meaning of marriage is 'INTOLERANCE.

Forcing our children to be taught things at school that we find objectionable is INTOLERANCE.

Forcing me to get rid of any guns I may have because they are fearful that people may have guns is INTOLERANCE.

Many find it odd that the people calling for tolerance are often the most intolerant of the views of others

you don't have to accept everything your partner does, but you should try to deal with them. You have to be able to see past the flaws of your partner and focus on the good traits.
