Why is religon important?

People are always so curious. They want answers. Religion is the quest for answers that have not been proved, accepted, or agreed upon by the majority. People want to know what the should do under certain circumstances when they are not told explicitly. People fell to the concept of religion in order to believe in something that could be expressed in a traditional manner. People support certain ideas of others and people don't support certain ideas. This is what creates the many forms of religion and certain aspects of each religion. Religion is a touchy subject and people have used this as a moral guideline for years. Religion is an expressed belief. People want to spread their or another's concept, people want meaning to everything that exists. Atheists refuse to believe that God( Supreme Being) exists and that it is not necessary to have religion (in general). Religion is a way of life and people choose to believe it for inner motivation or drive. Religion is very unique and that's what has created so many conflicts. Standing up for what one believes in demonstrates ones own beliefs. Religion is important to whether you believe it or not.

Religion makes people more secure in life and death.

Religion is something to look up to something they believe in which they feel safe.

This is an incredibly subjective answer, it is written with the assumption that God exists. For example the line "Atheists refuse to believe God exists" implies that they are doing so out of a rebellious pique, as a pose to a genuine belief that there is no gods.

just opinionnot sure how to answer that because it all depends on the person practicing the religion. On the positive side religion has helped many people through their lives. Many even attribute miricales to it. It gives a sense of belonging to something bigger than oneself and has even been proven to destress a person, strengthen a group, and improve ones overall sense of well being. On the negative side religion has also been used to divide people, persecute entire groups of people and is still being used today for the purposes of political gain. As with anything the importance it has is what you give to it and how you use it. (in my humble opinion) hope it helped.

It gives people a general guide for moral laws to govern their lives. By having this guide there are others that one can look to for inspiration and also others that one can help. The rewarding feeling of doing good is irreplaceable.

Because some people think that if you don't follow some stupid stories or believe In something that's pretty hard to believe in then your gonna go to hell but really Most of it is just bullcrap but apparently the worlds gonna end on October 22 2011 says the guy who said it was gonna end last month or I know is if the World does and it's gonna get covered in a huge fire ball.

The big questions in life "Why are we here?", "what is our purpose in life?", "What's it all about?", cannot be answered by science or technology.

A belief in a superior being that is controlling it all, is somehow easier to grasp.

Mankind get on better with each other, in close proximity if they follow basic rules, which give respect to each other.

Left to their own devices, mankind resort to being animals and grab all they can, when they can, in the survival of the fittest.

Religion gives structure to the rules for mankind to live in peace and harmony.

That's the ideal.

In reality, mankind twist the religious rules around, so they can carry on killing each other with a clear conscience.
