The only way to God-realization is Self-realization, which is the first step to God-realization. It's when we realize that we are not the body, mind and ego, we are the Divine Soul. How will we come to realize this? Through inquiry, through asking these questions, who am I and why I am here? These are essential for understanding the truth of life. This leads to enlightenment, enlightenment leads us to unification with the Divine.

∙ 13y agoSelf-enquiry (also spelled self-inquiry) is a practice designed to rapidly bring about self-realisation, self-awareness, and spiritual liberation or enlightenment, and is not readily associated with creation, at least in the biblical sense.
From a Western perspective, God's special act of creation either happened or it did not; no amount of enlightenment can change that. But perhaps enlightenment can help me understand an old idea in new and different ways. If true understanding requires this, then self-enquiry is essential, otherwise it is not essential.
