Air is an invisible gas, and you can only "see" it when it is liquefied.

Smoke is NOT a gas, although it is accompanied by gases. Smoke is made up of tiny particles of liquid (droplets) and solid (ash), which are visible in high concentration. Smoke particles that disperse too finely to be seen are still detectable by smell, down to a few parts per million (even less for some components).

Smoke consists of tiny particles that are larger and denser than air molecules. As light interacts with these particles, it scatters in various directions, making the smoke visible. In contrast, air is composed of transparent molecules that are much smaller and do not scatter light significantly, so it appears invisible.

Technically it doesn't effect the air itself at all. However, it does mix with the air and make it so that you inhale second hand smoke while breathing the air.

What is smokeless?

No one knows because smoke doesn't have to be visible to exist. Smoke and heat is a combination of hot air and the smoke depends on the material being burned, some burn light and others dark black smoke. Does burning gas from a lighter have no smoke?well, it still burns and heats the air around it and it climbs fast vertically and blurs the air.. That is invisible smoke or hot air from a clean burning fuel. That brings us to one conclusion, smokeless fire is a fire that gives no heat and that is not something of this realm. however, the Muslims have a description of demons in the Qur'an as been created from "smokeless fire" and humans from clay.
