We use soap with water to inhibit hydrogen bonding, water alone is prone to mix with the dirtiness.
You can, but you need another ingredient. You cant just wash it with water and it'll be clean! You need soap. Scrub soap on the shirt and then rinse it in water. Your clothes will be clean. I GUARANTEE IT!!!!
========= Just plain water will clean dry wall dust. You might just have to keep getting clean water and repeating. I usually use a shop vac first then clean with water. Good luck.
I just did (in a real pinch) and it seems to be going just fine.
To get it thoroughly clean, you need to empty what was in it first. Then you need to take warm water and fill the bottle. Let it soak for a few minutes to an hour depending on how clean you want it. After it just pore the water out and voilà!
Just rinse the clothes. The soap should wash away in the water. The easiest way to do this is probably to put them in the washer.

I am not good at telling temperatures. But if you have a dishwasher then it will kill all of the germs. But if you don't have one or don't use one like me, I just wash my dishes with Joy antibacterial dish soap with water as hot as I can stand it. I have noticed that any colored clothing tends to run or bleed its color onto other clothes, but your hot water setting on your washing machine should be just fine.

just in case while you cook it, not all of the bacteria is killed, just to be safe i would always use clean water:)
