If you're like me (a psych major), sociology is too conceptual. There aren't a whole lot of hard numbers and solid facts. Sociology basically says "this is how society is, because the people have made it like that", whereas psychology (and to an extent, Biology) give you the actual reasons WHY people have made it so.
When something is diffucult and bothers you, some people say, "This is so frustrating!" Or when somebody bothers you so much that you want to back hand them, you would scream, "YOUR SO FRUSTRATING"

Sociology is the study of social issues. All matters related to society are subjected to laws. So there isn't similarity, there is a linkage.

Both institutes are good but for Sociology you should choose Bibhash Sharma at Sociology IAS. For History - Hemant Jha of Career Point and Vajiram is famous for Psychology by Mukul Pathak and GS. Raus is so so.. but not bad.
I find it very frustrating when I can't get my checkbook to balance.
