3. Importing fuel means it has to be transported
a) That costs money
b) There are often transmission losses.
4. If you have no local energy supplies and are reliant on imports, you are at the mercy of the Supplier - and they can charge you whatever they like for your energy.
5. Solar power produced locally in your home suffers few transmission losses.
