It is because in a furnished room, reverberation occurs less than in a room with no furnishing.
There is no where for the sound wave to reflect
In an empty room, the sound is mostly just bounced around. When more things are placed in the room, they provide more ability to absorb sound and reflect in different directions such that it actually has to take a longer path to get from one place to another (zig zag instead of straight path) with the consequent attenuation of the intensity of the sound. Mostly though it's the absorption of the sound by the stuff you fill the room with.If a room has things like soft chairs, sofas, beds, etc, they serve to absorb some of the sound waves.
The speed of sound depends only on the material it's traveling through, not on the source of the sound. In general, the speed is higher in more-dense media, like steel, water, and rock, then it is in less-dense media, like air.
You would have to put more things in the room so the waves have something to move around and go through.
More amplitude means more loudness of the sound.
Just as an empty bottle makes a louder sound when it is struck or blown over when it is empty than when it is full, so does a person with an empty head make more noise or chaos than somebody with knowledge.
one prolonged blast
This happens because of a phenomenon called as 'REVERBERATION' and 'Multiple reflection'.Sound is very fast so for us to hear a distinct echoe to our sound there has to be more distance for it to travel. In an empty room there is more space so the sound can keep reflecting of the walls.
The sound signal that you should hear when a power boat is in the fog is one prolonged blast at intervals of no more than 2 minutes.
A power driven vessel making way shall sound at intervals of not more than 2 min one prolonged blast. A power driven vessel under way, but stopped & no making way, shall sound at intervals of not more than 2 min two prolonged blas in sucession, at intervals of about 2 sec between them.7 blasts

Empty Vessels make the MOST sound!Suppose, when we will water in an empty vessel and strike it with something, it makes less noise. But when we strike and empty vessel, it makes more noise as compared to the empty one. Such is referred to our human lives. The people who are ignored and are foolish boast off more than clever people. People, who are intelligent, believe that they need to gain more knowledge and no matter what amount of knowledge they gain, they need more. Clever people don't speak but listen to other people and keep silent until they are asked something. But foolish people always speak more than they know when actually they don't know anything! Intelligent people have water of intelligence filled in the pots of their brains but foolish people have no water and but have empty pots of brains. That is why they want to show off more and more to people to gain their attention. But intelligent people just keep on gaining knowledge and don't try to point their views in all matters. Thus, it is said that Empty vessels as in empty headed people make more noise that is boast off more.
