Rochester, Michigan is halfway between Southbend & Mississauga
It is called South Bend because it is at the 'south bend' of the st. Joe River.
South Bend is in the state of Indiana. The closest neighboring state to South Bend is Michigan to the north.
The University of Notre Dame is on the North side of South Bend, Indiana. It is located approximately 5 miles S. of the MI - IN state line. It is approximately 90 miles east of Chicago and 275 miles W. of Cleveland Ohio. It borders the Indiana Toll Road ( I 80 - 90) The city of South Bend starts at the South Border of Notre Dame and the center of South Bend is appox. 4 miles south of Notre Dame. The main gate is located on Angela Blvd. On the North side of Notre Dame is the burg of Roseland. I believe that everthing north of Angela Blvd is in Clay Township.
The Saint Joseph River runs through South Bend, and it "bends" directly to the south.
