The streak is the mineral in a powdered form from abrasion with the hard, slightly textured surface of an unglazed porcelain streak plate. The streak color may differ from the color observed in a specimen. Coloration of mineral specimens is sometimes due to impurities. In a powdered form, the impurities are not abundant enough to cause coloration in the streak, thus revealing the true color of the mineral. == ==
Color is the observable color of a mineral specimen in natural light. Streak is the color of a mineral when powdered. The color of a specific mineral specimen may be different than its streak color. Because many impurities can alter the color of a mineral, but not the streak, streak is a more accurate predictor in mineral identification.
there are a few : hardness, luster, cleavage, streak, color, and density. there are more but i don't know them off the top of my head.
Colorless, white, red, yellow, orange, pink, blue, violet, green, and gray. May also be multicolored with a solid and clear color such as blue and white, and white for streak. See more at the related link below.
A mineral's color may be influenced by inclusions of other elements or minerals, or even exposure to heat, light, and radiation. A more reliable identification based on color would be the streak, or color of the powdered mineral.
Streak is more reliable!!
Streak, hardness, and crystalline structure.
The streak, or color of a mineral's powder, represents the true color of a mineral without the effects observed in a hand specimen due to impurities, inclusions or differences in light reflection.

Its more reliable because whats on the outside of the mineral isn't always true. Like for example: Pyrite looks like gold but when you streak it its brown inside. Hope this helps! :)
Some minerals can be the same color but have different streaks.

Actually, it can't be that accurate because quartz can be found in a variety of colors. Streak is more reliable than color.
