Why is string not safe for dogs?

string, say off of a tug rope, is not safe for dogs if they eat the string itself. it is like any other foreign object, that can get stuck in their digestive tract, and cause many other problems such as blockage, vommiting (to try and get the string back out.) diaherra, as well as possible internal bleeding. but if it does not come out naturally, vet attention is required to save your animal.
