And this mostly happens at Mid-Atlantic ridges. This is the process in which magma from under the Earth seeps to the surface and gradually solidifies.
F.Y.I. they sift apart making magma rise from the earths manntle. The magma then turns into more crust that has been happining for mllions of years.
