The Gupta age is named so because of the incredible advanced in math, science, astronomy, religion and philosophy that were made during that time. Decimals and the concept of zero were invented at this time. Strong rulers of India allowed peace to prosper throughout the land and allowed people to pursue the arts and maths.
Chandra Gupta was the first ruler of the Indian empire, he had royal officials/ supervised roads, harbors, taxes, factories, and shipyards ( public works ). he had women as warriors.also - Chandra's grandson (268BCE) started a war to expand the empire, and brought peace and prosperity, he built hospitals, Buddhist shrines, roads and rest houses. Harsha ruled India mostly by traveling from place to place solidifying relationships with local rulers. This being so, after Harsha died the empire quickly dissolved.
