The is a very good Question. All of the rulers of nations in the Bible are named. The Bible even names kings during Abram's life the have no historical proof of ever ruling, but when it comes to the pharaohs there is never a name. Abram's story of the pharaoh and Sarah is nameless, the pharaohs in the story of Jacob, and the Exodus are never name either. I believe that the writers of the OT myths knew that the Egyptians maintained a very accurate list of all the pharaohs that ever ruled and thus it would be hard to give credit to those stories if the pharaoh was actually named so by simply writing pharaoh, it becomes to vague to track down and prove historically.

AnswerRameses II, who ruled Egypt from 1279 to 1212 BCE, was once thought to be the pharaoh mentioned in Genesis. Certainly, it could not have been an earlier pharaoh, as Exodus 12:37 says the Israelites journeyed from Rameses, a city named for Rameses II, to Succoth.
