"System", in this sense, means there are different components that interact with one another.
I haven't checked this out, but it may be simply something to do with how words
were used centuries ago.
In the days when scientists were called "Natural Philosophers", it was common for
them to talk about the "system of the world".
By that they meant the motions of the planets and so on.
Galileo's most famous book was called:
"Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems".
He wrote about what we now call the "geocentric model" and the "heliocentric model".
Our Solar System is called the Solar System, Why?, what do you Aliens call it.

My solar system (and yours if you are from Earth) is just called "The Solar System".

Our solar system is called 'Sol'
Solar means sun and the sun is the star at the center of our "system" ,thus solar system (sun system).

The galaxy in which our solar system is located is called the Milky Way
Everything in our star system orbits the sun. The Sun's name is, "Sol". Therefore, its system is called the Sol-ar or simply Solar system. If our Sun was named Fred, it would be called the "Freddar" system, or something similar.
Our solar system is in a galaxy called the Milky Way. There are pulsars in our galaxy, but not in our solar system.
