The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal was listed in UNESCO World heritage sites in 1983. The Taj Mahal is a great mausoleum of white marble. It was built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife in Agra. It took around 17 years to complete. It is a precious jewel of Muslim archaology in India.
The government of India reqested to UNESCO and after a meeting UNESCO agreed to make the Taj Mahal a World heritege site
its a Indian tourist attraction :)
There are 32 World Heritage Sites in India including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Hill Forts of Rajasthan and Sundarbans National Park.
In 1983, the Taj Mahal was declared a World Heritage site. The greatness and uniqueness of this site are the source of the monument's importance, and so the reason it was designated a World Heritage site. The UNESCO organization says the Taj Mahal is "considered to be the greatest architectural achievement in the whole range of Indo-Islamic architecture", not only in appearance but in its construction and conception. Furthermore the Taj Mahal has maintained "integrity", in that it remains as authentic a piece of architecture as it was when first selected to be a World Heritage site.
