After many expensive repairs to my TCS system I found it is best to go to the dealer and have him use his computer to trouble shot the system. The cost is approx. $65 with that ask him for the trouble code and the repair part #. He will quote you a repair cost and part # with cost. After market computers can not perform all the functions of the dealer or reprogram a new ABS module.

The "trac off" light will go off and it will show "traction active" only when the system is in use. Note that you cant do a burn out with traction control "on". :)

What will make a Pontiac Montana 2000 ABS light stays on with traction system light comes on and goes off?

2002 Pontiac Montana, 165,000 miles. I am the only owner. Very reliable service. Front wheel bearings have been replaced twice. Traction System OFF light came on at 155,000 miles, and cruise control broke at same time. Lived with that, but then rear brake lights went out and mechanic cleaned out the rusted rear light circuit boards, which made everything work again. Mechanic told me that rusty circuit boards are common for Montana. Mechanic suggests replacing 2 circuit boards next time for $250.
