I think that Twilight is so popular because it's fantasy for one, and fantasy is a very popular genre, for two, it has vampires in it, and those are also a very popular thing, and three, it is an action romance novel which many people love. Twilight is a story about a romance that probably relates to a lot of the relationships that teens have in their real lives.

Caution- the alternitive answer below doesn't answer why "everyone" likes it, but why "most girls" do.

Most people like Twilight because reading is a form of escapism, and most girls would prefer to escape into a world where there's a man to love them unconditionally, most girls would prefer to escape into a world where they get a lot of attention, and most girls would prefer to escape into a world where they are pretty, intelligent, and nice. Twilight offers all of these things, in a way. If you look past the obvious, however, you'll see that Edward and Bella's relationship is unhealthy, and Bella is a whiny, ungrateful, disrespectful, plain teenage girl, who has very little reason to be getting any attention. However, because Twilight is so effective in making you feel good about yourself if you do not look past the obvious, most girls refuse to see these things, choosing instead to remain in the perfect world they can escape to every time they open the book.

When a book becomes a movie if people like the teasers they ll want to read that book before they watch the movie. Plus it's a really good book! :)
