The person who answered previously is an idiot. The Alpine Woolly Rat is endangered because it doesn't reproduce like other animals (multiple quantities). So assume you live in the wild and you're an under developed animal with no real way of defending yourself, and top of that you only give birth to one offspring at a time. Your kin folk would be getting killed off quickly also.
