A:Yes, most electricity is generated by burning fossils fuels, mainly coal. This releases a lot of extra carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere where it is gradually building up, absorbing the sun's heat, and warming the planet, too much. So if we all use a bit less electricity it will reduce the carbon footprint of our country. All countries are in a kind of race to reduce their carbon emissions. They don't all want to take hard steps, but if people reduce by themselves the governments will be happy (a bit!).It is due to electricity shortfall, but the government is trying to fix it.
