Because hedgehogs hibernate usually in a pile of dry leaves but because there's been alot of wet weather the leaves could be dry on top but wet underneath so they cant hybernate. That means that during the winter they'd freeze!
In addition, you know a hedgehog is a mammal because it has hair and gives birth to live young.
I think (I'm not sure) it is because of slug pellets, litter, garden ponds drains, human strimmers and nets (such as football nets, tennis nets and cricket nets)
Hedgehogs are typically considered pests because they love to eat peoples' gardens.

hedgehogs are not currently extinct For one thing, the cannot currently be extinct. Once something is extinct, it's extinct forever. And no, hedgehogs are not extinct yet.

Extinction would be the proper definition. If the animal is in danger of being extinct, it is endangered. If it is in danger of being endangered, it is threatened. If it in danger of being threatened, it is classified as vulnerable.
