· Deforestation - claiming land for agriculture (habitat loss)

· decline in prey population - due to hunting and competition with livestock for grazing

· problem animals (depredators) - kill livestock and are killed by herders in retribution

· loss of habitat - more people and livestock pushing the animal to become isolated and vulnerable

· lack of effective protection - from poaching

· Lack of awareness and support - herders unaware of the importance of the elements of the ecosystem and why they need to protected

· pollution - DDT, acid rain, etc.
