South African People usually enjoy a variety of desserts. I am South African and stay in Asia - most people just love the following: one of the most famous desserts is Milk Tart (or as the call it "Melktert") Its a fridge tart (that does need baking) made of milk and flower etc. its sweet and is usually served with Cinnamon... Also very popular is: Malva pudding, Koeksisters, Brandy Tart, Banana Caramel Fridge tart etc. You can search all of these dishes on google - there are more than enough sites to help.
South African milk tarts, or "melktert," hold cultural significance as a beloved traditional dessert that reflects the country's diverse heritage. This sweet, creamy tart, typically made with a pastry crust filled with a mixture of milk, sugar, and eggs, is often flavored with cinnamon and serves as a nostalgic treat for many South Africans. It embodies the communal spirit of sharing and celebration, often enjoyed during family gatherings and festive occasions. Additionally, milk tarts represent the fusion of various culinary influences, showcasing the rich tapestry of South Africa's history.

Acid. Milk goes sour because of lactic acid production by bacteria.
