The light indicates that Overdrive is off. The overdrive solenoid on the transmission has to be energised to allow the transmission to shift into 4th gear There are 4 common failures. Most likely first; * Bad Relay - The solder on the circuit board cracks. - open it and re-solder * Bad wiring * ** - Broken at the switch lights the light ** - Broken at the solenoid does not light the light * Bad switch on the shift lever * Bad solenoid Good Luck
Check the bulbs, check the fuse, check the brake light switch, in that order.

On my 1994 Volvo 940 Station wagon there are two. My 2.3 is a turbo model, and was told they installed two, one in the tank, accessible behind and under the rear bench seat, and the other mid body next to the fuel filter.

it sounds like the fuel pump or fuel punp relay
I have found 2 cans of r34 restore the A/C on my wife's 1994 850 wagon. I purchased a recharge kit a few years back, followed the instructions and it works fine.
the transmission is in overdrive I don't have overdrive in my car but look at your gearshift because the small button on it should be how you disengage the system
if their is no slipping or any other transmission issues and it is just only the loss of overdrive try replacing the brake light switch
