The second amendment is controversial because it allows individuals and groups to "bear arms" or own and carry a firearm. Some people are all for this, believing it is all for self defense. Others see it as an excuse for would-be or have-been criminals to have and use guns. It all depends on your point of view concerning firearms, self defense, and violence.
It is important to note that the framers of the Constitution did not believe they were conferring a new right onto the people here. Rather, they were confirming what they believed was an existing natural right of a free people to keep and bear arms. This was rooted in the framers fundamental distrust of government. Based on their knowledge of history, they believed that the greatest danger to the new republic was tyrannical government and that the ultimate check on tyranny was an armed population.
Some people involved in criticism of the Second Amendment believe this is an antiquated view. They believe that surely, in our modern times, the American people can trust our government and that public safety overrides this antiquated notion of the people defending themselves from tyranny. Others ignore the tyranny argument altogether and suggest the framers were simply talking about personal defense or hunting. Still others believe the framers were only talking about use of arms in a "militia" or national guard.
Those defending the second amendment generally take the view that free people have a natural right to defend themselves from both crime and tyranny and share the framer's distrust of government.
The Second Amendment is a central issue in the core Big Government vs Small Government political debate in the United States in the early twenty-first century.
This is important because Police officers can't always be there at the moment of a crisis, so US citizens should be able to arm themselves, in addition to being safe. The Second Amendment isn't bad. Ignorance about firearms and the true causes of violence is bad. Our founding fathers gave it to us to protect us from the government. It allows us to form a militia and fight the government when they get out of control. It is very important, and allows us, when the government becomes tyrannical, to overthrow and establish an new government to protect the rights of the people. People say it's bad because of the people who abuse this right and kill others.
People can easily misuse fire arms (guns) for acts of violence which can put a community in danger.
Because some people think Its dangerous but they have to understand it's a Self defense
